15 Things on my “Grateful List”

When I am not sure what to write about, and more importantly, what to think about, I think about what makes me grateful.

As I have said before, you cannot be negative or angry when you are grateful.  So when I am stressed, or anxious or frustrated, I take a deep breath and go through this exercise.  It usually only takes me a few minutes to get my mental state back on track.

Here are a few things that go through my mind when I do this.

1.  My wife:  I am incredibly lucky to have Amy in my life.  She truly does make me want to be better.  As I think about blessings in my life, she is at the top of the list.

2.  My girls, Skylar and Jade:  These two make me super proud.  I love the young ladies they are growing into.  Their journey has just begun.

3.  My family:  All of my family have been super supportive of me throughout my life.  I am forever grateful for that.

4.  The Hasseman Marketing team (yes that includes Robbie too):  I can’t believe the great group we have put together here.  Last night we had our holiday party…what a fun group.  I am excited about what we are creating together.

5.  My Coshocton County friends:  What a great group of people!  These are the folks that would help me out (in an instant) if needed.

6.  My Promo industry friends:  These folks inspire me to be better in my profession.

7.  My heroes that inspire me:  Though I don’t “know” these people, I watch them from afar and they get me fired up to do better in many areas of my life.

8.  My health:  I am so blessed to be healthy.

9.  My home:  Speaking of blessed, I love the place I have to rest and relax.

10.  The giving spirit of Coshocton County:  It’s so cool to see this small community rally together whenever there is a need.

11.  Newpointe Community Church:  I feel like this church has come to Coshocton just when it was needed.  It’s been great for me for sure.

12.  Local Leaders:  I totally love the level of collaboration that is going on in Coshocton County right now.  It’s at a level I have never seen.  As a side note, our own Port Authority Director, Tiffany Swigert was in Washington D.C. this week.  Here is a clip of her talking with Leaders there.  You can hear her at about 1:06 in.

13.  Industry leaders:  The marketing conversation has been elevated (or at least it is being elevated) because the leaders in the industry are helping to make it happen.  Let’s keep that going.

14.  My puppies:  When they are not pooping and peeing…they are fun.

15.  The Drone:  I am happy we tracked the drone down after a recent adventure.  You can see that adventure here.  As you can see, this is a woefully incomplete list.  But it’s a start.  It’s a place I can go to get my head back on straight.  What does your list look like? Make sure you never miss an update!  It’s time to become a VIP!  I would be grateful for that.  Sign up here.

4 GOOD Things About Coshocton County

“Familiarity breeds contempt.”   You might have heard this saying.  It’s a simple concept that says that what you see every day, you tend to get frustrated with.   I see this, sometimes, in small town America.  We see the same things each and every day, and we can get obsessed about the things that are “wrong.”   We have this problem where Hasseman Marketing is located, in Coshocton County.

It’s natural.  We have a tendency to see what bothers us.  But as I have talked about before, you can train your mind what to look for.  When we constantly obsess over the “bad” we fail to see the good. So I wanted to make a list of the things I am thankful for in my community.  Here are 4 good things in Coshocton County.

Now Hiring

One of the critiques of Coshocton County for many years was the loss of jobs.  It was true.  We had lost quite a few manufacturing plants and jobs over the years.  But here’s the thing, it’s not true now.  It seems like every place I go, they have a sign out that says “now hiring.”  If you go to the Ohio Means Jobs website for Coshocton County, there are lots of available positions.  I am thankful and excited that there are lots of great opportunities in the community today.

ITM Investment

I am fired up about ITM moving to our Main Street in Coshocton.  ITM is a company that has been in our community for many years and they have decided to purchase a building on Main Street…and bring 80 plus employees with them.  This has the opportunity to be a really big deal for downtown.

Collaboration

One of the things I have most noticed is a new sense of working together.  In many organizations, across many different areas, I hear the chatter of people working together to better get things done.  Many of the territorial silos of the past seem to be dissolving.  To me, that is extremely exciting.

New Energy

It’s hard to quantify this, but there seems to be a renewed energy in meetings.  When you are looking for something good going on, there are plenty of people shouting out examples.  You don’t have to look for them…positives seem to be jumping out everywhere.  That energy is contagious. In addition to these positives, I see people investing in new businesses.  I mentioned ITM above.  But there are so many more!  Sorrell’s on the Square, McKenna’s Farm Market,  and The General Store in West Lafayette are just a few!   It’s good to see these positives in the community.  They are there.  You just need to look for them.  And regardless of your community, it helps when you spread the word as well!

4 Things We Are Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving!  The holidays are officially upon us.  And as the Black Friday Sales start (on Thursday, no less) it is extremely easy to get sucked into the stress of the holiday season.  We can get too focused on the gifts and less on the meaning.  We get focused on the tasks on the to-do list and less on the point of the exercise. I know I am guilty of it. So on this day of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take just a moment to outline a few of the things I am thankful for here at Hasseman Marketing.

The Team

I really am excited and thankful for the team I get to work with every day.  From different backgrounds and different parts of the country, the inside employees and the outside sales team are what make us go. They are who “Deliver Marketing Joy.”  Thanks to the Hasseman Marketing Team!

Our Customers

Nothing happens until there is a sale.  That is true of any business, and certainly ours.  We so appreciate the faith and trust our customers place in us every day.  Thanks to each and every one of you!

Our Communities

Our Corporate headquarters is in Coshocton, Ohio and we love that area.  We #ChooseCoshocton.  We are proud of it.  We want to have an impact.  But with the nature of our business, we have team members in other communities too.  Yes, we have people in Ohio.  But we also represent communities in Virginia, North Carolina, and California as well.  We are thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in each.

Our Suppliers and Partners

As with most any business, we are not in it alone.  We have a host of fantastic suppliers and partners that help us do what we do.  These suppliers are manufacturers, printers, designers and software developers…and more.  We are thankful for the opportunity to work with each. So thank you!  If you are reading this, you are likely in one of these camps.

All of us at Hasseman Marketing would like to take this chance to give Thanksgiving…for you!
