Have you ever had that day where nothing seemed to be going your way? Was everything completely out of your control? It’s true that many times things might slip through our fingers, which can make things very frustrating. There are also times where we can’t put a positive spin on our circumstances, such as a death in the family.

But most of the time we do have a choice, we can look at our circumstances from two different perspectives. First, we can decide that there is no positive way to look at this incident. Or conversely, we can ask ourselves “What can I take away from this issue?” You may decide that you can choose to learn and never make that mistake again. Also, sometimes taking a break before a second look might allow you to see a different outcome or solution. So you do have the decision to be fantastic! Your attitude and outlook are completely in your control; don’t let anyone else make you think any differently.
Positive people lead healthier and happier lives. Stress is a silent killer, although it is in all of our lives we can counteract it with positive thinking. Every little bit helps, you will notice that changing your mindset becomes easier the longer you practice it.

The Word of the Week is Focus! In this video, Kirby discusses how you shouldn’t just rely on the multitasking to get your work done. We can all have lots on our plates at any given minute. I know I am always getting overwhelmed trying to get all of the required tasks done, not to mention the other responsibilities, I would prefer to finish. But doing them all at the same time takes longer and at the end of the day, you will have completed less. Take time to focus….try not to get overwhelmed. Put your tasks in order of priority and then start working on checking them off, one by one. The best way to do work is by focusing for an allotted time and then taking a short break. This allows your brain to rest and reset, as where multitasking is doing something completely different.
Multitasking is continually interrupting your brain when it is trying to focus, inhibiting it to form the same train of thought. You may have noticed that sometimes it might take you a few minutes to get into the groove of a particular task. This is normal; it can take a few minutes for our brains to switch completely to a task. Because of this can you imagine what your brain is doing when you multitask? Studies say that you end up getting less done. Oh and you can save yourself some frustration when only working on one project at a time. Yes, some days this might seem impossible when you’re struggling to balance everything on time. So try to do your best at keeping everything in sequence. Now go ahead……Buckle down and get focused! This week in Episode 101 of Delivering Marketing Joy! Kirby Hasseman interviewed Phil Martin, National Sales Manager at Warwick Publishing Company. During this session, Kirby asked Phil’s opinions on the pros and cons of innovations that have brought new features to the industry.Phil Martian mentioned internet’s positives and negatives. He said the World Wide Web has changed everything. On the plus side, the internet provides a vast quantity of tools that allow a business to operate more efficiently. In his opinion, the negative aspect of the internet allowing everyone to access all of a company’s information might be considered an undesirable extra. Expedited shipping, according to Phil is a bonus because it allows transactions to turn around at a faster rate, although this can put a demand on suppliers to turn out products more rapidly. In response, this can make the supplier add onto over time accounts, buy more equipment, in all driving up costs. Phil also thought that product diversity has grown over the last couple of years. In this day and age, there are new ideas everywhere, which allows people to view different promotional ideas. Phil Martin thinks sometimes it might muddy the water.
Social Media is a remarkable item that has had a continuing positive effect on the industry in the last few years. We are communicating in ways now that companies could never have done before! One of the recent issues that bothers Phil the most is the fragmentation of the industry. He wishes that there was more interacting, during which people could share ideas. Kirby asked Phil tips he would recommend for new sales people. Phil stated the importance of getting involved in the industry by attending functions and events, even just to get to meet others in your market. Try to learn from of mature sales people in the industry; these seasoned employees have lots of insights to offer. He also suggested that you will sell more if you don’t focus on just selling a product, but instead start selling what the product does. During this video, Kirby and Phil also discuss the importance of American Made products.
